Input on health-promoting architecture for Rehaklinik Hasliberg
One-day event at the SCDH for the people involved in the construction process at the rehab clinic in preparation for the refurbishment and new construction work to be undertaken at Rehaklinik Hasliberg. The group visits an example of best practice and receives an introduction to the subject of health-promoting architecture.
Rehaklinik Hasliberg is a well-respected Swiss clinic in the area of medical-oncology, psychosomatic and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. The clinic, which has around 80 beds, plans to do a variety of building work, including the renovation of two stories of the clinic building and the construction of an extension to contain 20 new rooms.
In preparation for the renovation and new construction, the people from the clinic who are involved in the construction process join a team from the SCDH on a visit to REHAB Basel. This is a highly specialised rehabilitation in which patients receive the best possible treatment and support on their path back to a life worth living. The design of the centre seeks to ensure that patients feel well and comfortable during what are often stays of multiple months – despite the highly complex clinic setting. One of the best-practice examples of Swiss hospital architecture, the complex was built to the design of the architects Herzog & de Meuron in 1999. The concept and philosophy of the building have endured the test of time in the best possible way.
After visiting REHAB, Rehaklinik Hasliberg’s representatives receive information and training on health-promoting architecture at the SCDH’s Living Lab.
